THE FUND FOR AMERICAN STUDIES |
The International Programs Staff here at The Fund for American Studies would like to thank you for your assistance in recruiting outstanding students for the 2009 Asia Institute for Political Economy (AIPE) in Hong Kong – the Institute was a great success! This summer the AIPE class consisted of 64 students from 15 countries, including our first student from Bhutan .
This year we have set up a student nomination system. It is very important that AIPE have a qualified and diverse student body, and your assistance in accomplishing this would be immensely helpful.
As you know, AIPE is organized by The Fund for American Studies in partnership with Georgetown University and the University of Hong Kong . Based in Hong Kong, the Institute offers a unique opportunity for students from Asia and the U.S. to delve into serious political and economic issues facing their countries. As the financial center of Asia and as a successful free-market economy, Hong Kong is the perfect setting to bring together students to discuss these issues. Each summer, AIPE participants critically analyze the benefits of open economies and societies in a rigorous academic setting and participate in stimulating lectures given by the region’s most esteemed experts.
Students who attend university in the People’s Republic of China or who attend the University of Hong Kong must apply through the University of Hong Kong . The admissions deadlines for these students are:
January 15, 2010 - Final Deadline for PRC students
February 2010 - Final Deadline for HKU students
